NEXA Events is the umbrella brand behind event concepts such as De Binnenstad and De Zomervloot.
Although the organization was already hosting events, they didn't have a central website yet. They wanted one place where visitors could discover their different concepts and find information about their events.
My task was to turn that idea into a complete website, starting from scratch.

I was responsible for the UX/UI design and development of the entire website.
From research and wireframes to visual designs, responsive layouts and the final WordPress implementation, I worked on every stage of the project.
The organization already had a logo, but I developed the surrounding visual identity and translated it into a consistent website design.
The biggest challenge was definitely the technical side.
I had never worked with WordPress before, so I had to figure out how to turn my designs into a functioning website while learning the platform.
Making everything responsive and incorporating the organization's requirements wasn't always easy, but I genuinely enjoyed figuring things out along the way.

I started by talking to the organization about their wishes and requirements. From there, I gathered inspiration, created moodboards and explored different design directions.
I worked through several design stages, starting with low-fidelity wireframes, followed by mid-fidelity and high-fidelity designs.
Throughout the process, I discussed my designs during meetings and used the feedback to improve them.
Once the designs were ready, I brought everything to life in WordPress.

The result was a complete, responsive website that brings NEXA's different event concepts together under one brand.
I designed and built the entire website myself, from the first wireframes to the final implementation.
The website is still live, which makes it extra rewarding to see something I created from scratch being used in the real world.

This project taught me how much more there is to web design than creating a beautiful interface.
Working with WordPress for the first time pushed me to develop my technical skills, solve problems independently and think more carefully about responsive design.
It also showed me how important communication and feedback are when translating a client's ideas into a working digital product.
Most importantly, I discovered how much I enjoy combining design with development.
